The faculty of the Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute have a deep and abiding passion for the Gestalt approach to transformation and bring a combination of over 70 years experience in the methods and practices of this powerful therapy. Whether through advanced training, stand alone workshop or introductory salon, the faculty of AGTI are committed to an empowering, clear and dynamic presentation of Gestalt Therapy.
Nicholas E.S. Emmanuel, MA, LPC, LMFT
Graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Master's degree in Psychology. He is a co-founder of the Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute and brings a wealth of training and clinical experience to this program. He has over 700 hours of specialized training in Gestalt Therapy and over 40 years experience as a clinical practitioner and teacher in a variety of settings. He is currently in private practice with hours available in both Sylva, NC. and in Asheville at the Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute.

Ernest A. McCoy, Ed.S, MSW
Ernest A. McCoy has an Ed.S. in Psychological Counseling, an MSW in Psychiatric Social Work, and over 30 years’ experience as a therapist. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, he is also a consultant and trainer for the Gestalt Educational International Network in Frankfurt, Germany. He specializes in adolescent issues, alcohol and other drug addictions, separation and individuation issues, attention deficit, Asperger’s disorder, oppositional defiance, multicultural issues, and basic family issues. He works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families.
